Membership Terms for ONE TOKYO SUPPORTING MEMBERS
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as the “Terms”) set forth the basic matters regarding ONE TOKYO SUPPORTING MEMBERS (hereinafter referred to as the “Members”) who agree with the purposes and activities of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation (General Incorporated Foundation) (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”).
Article 2 (Establishment of Secretariat)
The Foundation shall establish a secretariat to ensure the smooth administration of all matters related to the Members.
Article 3 (Membership)
Individuals who agree with the purposes and activities of the Foundation may apply for membership in accordance with separately prescribed procedures, and those approved by the Chairperson of the Foundation shall become Members.
Article 4 (Eligibility for Membership)
Members must meet all of the following requirements:
- Individuals who agree with the purposes and activities of the Foundation.
- Individuals who accept the Terms; and
- Individuals residing outside Japan.
Applications may be rejected if any of the following applies:
- The applicant has previously had their membership revoked by the Foundation; or
- The Foundation deems the applicant unsuitable for membership.
Article 5 (Annual Membership Fee)
Members shall pay the annual membership fee to the Foundation as follows:
- The annual membership fee shall be JPY 300,000 (tax included) per unit. Only members subscribing to three or more units shall be eligible to receive membership benefits.
- The membership period shall be from the date of completion of the enrollment procedure until the end of March of the following year.
- The same annual fee shall apply even if a Member joins during the fiscal year.
- Paid membership fees shall not be refunded for any reason whatsoever, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Foundation. The same shall apply in cases of withdrawal under Article 8 or revocation of membership under Article 9 during the membership period.
Article 6 (Term and Renewal of Membership)
The membership period shall be from the date of completion of the enrollment procedure until March 31 of the following year.
- Upon expiration of the membership period, the Foundation shall notify Members by email regarding renewal procedures.
- Membership shall be renewed upon payment of the membership fee by the designated deadline in accordance with the methods prescribed by the Foundation and confirmation of such payment.
Article 7 (Notification of Changes)
Members shall promptly notify the secretariat of any changes to the information registered at the time of enrollment.
The Foundation shall bear no responsibility for any disadvantages incurred due to a Member’s failure to provide such notification.
Article 8 (Withdrawal)
Members may withdraw from membership at any time by submitting a separately prescribed notice of withdrawal to the secretariat.
Upon withdrawal, Members shall no longer be entitled to the benefits set forth in Article 10.
Any benefits already received shall become invalid or revoked upon withdrawal.
Article 9 (Revocation of Membership)
The Foundation may revoke a Member’s status at its discretion if any of the following applies:
- The Member engages in conduct contrary to the purposes or activities of the Foundation or seriously damages the reputation of related parties.
- The Member engages in conduct in violation of the Terms, laws, or public order and morals.
- The Member is found to have relationships with antisocial forces or individuals associated with such forces.
- The Member fails to pay the annual membership fee without just cause.
- The Foundation deems that there are other reasonable grounds for revoking membership.
Article 10 (Benefits)
The Foundation shall provide the following benefits to Members; however, depending on the timing of enrollment, some benefits may not be available:
- Complimentary participation in RUN as ONE - GLOBAL Virtual Run (up to 10 times per year)
- Entry to the Tokyo Marathon (provided only when in the event of participant vacancies)
- Access to a dedicated runner reception booth for Supporting Members at the Tokyo Marathon
- Access to a special waiting room in the Tokyo Marathon start area
- Name listing on the ONE TOKYO website
- Other benefits and services provided by the Foundation as published on the official ONE TOKYO website
For benefit (2), only one entry right shall be granted per individual Member.
Such rights shall not be carried over to the following year (next event) for any reason.
Benefits and services provided by the Foundation may not be transferred, sold, or converted into cash to any third party. If such acts are discovered, membership shall be revoked and future applications shall not be accepted.
Tokyo Marathon entry rights may be transferred only to immediate family members (parents, spouse, or children), and only upon completion of procedures specified by the Foundation.
Article 11 (Amendment of Terms)
The Terms may be amended as follows due to operational or other reasons of the Foundation:
- The Foundation may amend the Terms at any time without prior consent of the Members to the extent reasonable and consistent with the purpose of the Terms, and Members shall accept such amendments.
- Unless otherwise specified by the Foundation, the amended the Terms shall become effective upon being posted on the Foundation’s official website.
Article 12 (Liability)
The Foundation shall not be liable for any damages incurred directly or indirectly by Members or third parties in connection with the benefits provided under Article 10, regardless of the nature or method thereof, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Foundation.
Article 13 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
The Terms shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
In the event of any dispute arising in connection with the Terms, the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
Article 14 (Management of Personal Information)
The Foundation shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the personal information of Members held by the Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”) and shall handle Personal Information appropriately in accordance with the “Guidelines for the Use of Personal Information” in the Terms.
The Foundation shall not use Personal Information of Members for any purpose other than the provision of ONE TOKYO and shall not disclose or provide such information to any third party. However, this shall not apply in the following cases.
- When the Foundation subcontracts the production and operation of ONE TOKYO to a subcontractor.
- When the Foundation provides Personal Information to a company that has obtained prior consent from the Members.
- When the Foundation sends e-mails to Members to advertise the products and services of ONE TOKYO or its business partners.
- When the Foundation are compelled by law to submit Personal Information.
- In other cases where the Foundation has obtained the consent of the Members.
Article 15 (Miscellaneous)
In addition to the Terms, the regulations concerning the Supporting Member system of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation and the ONE TOKYO GLOBAL Membership Terms shall also apply to Members. In the event of any inconsistency between such rules and the Terms, the Terms shall prevail. If translated versions of the Terms exist, the Japanese version shall prevail.
Supplementary Provision
The Terms shall come into effect on June 1, 2026.
